About NutritionSimplify

NutritionSimplify is a small, independent website about everyday Indian food: how much is in a roti, a katori of dal, a plate of poha or a cup of chai.

Who runs it

NutritionSimplify is run by Prashant S. Gupta. I also write about wildlife and travel at TravelOnTales. I am not a doctor or a dietitian, and this site does not give medical or diet advice.

Why this site exists

Most calorie charts online are made for Western food: slices of bread, cups of cereal, ounces of meat. Indian meals are measured differently, in rotis, katoris, ladles and plates. I wanted one simple place that talks about food the way we actually eat it at home, in a tiffin, at a dhaba or at a wedding.

The aim is simple: make Indian food a little easier to understand, and a little more fun to explore.

How the numbers on this site are made

Every number on NutritionSimplify is an approximate, rounded value for a typical home-style serving. Real food changes a lot with the recipe, the oil, the size of the katori and who is cooking. So please read every number as a ballpark, not a measurement.

The articles use general nutrition references for typical food values, rounded for easy reading. Food lookups and photo scans (Nutrisnap) are made by an AI model and can be wrong. Everything AI-made is labelled and is for entertainment only.
